How to Remove the Ikea Maximera Drawer

So I recently had an Ikea kitchen fitted as I really liked the configuration in particular of the drawers – they have a range of drawers in different sizes including some really useful 10cm deep drawers.

In fact you can choose whatever configuration of drawers that you want to fit into your units using the Metod bases and Maximera drawer carcasses.

In fact there are so many configurations in the Ikea kitchen that I changed my mind about what size drawers that I wanted in both of my drawer units! However, once I had installed the drawers I had trouble figuring out how to remove the maximera drawer from the rails and tried to Google to find that information but what I found fell short of helping me.

So for that reason I decided to inspect the one maximera drawer that I hadn’t put together to figure out how to get the drawer out. Doing this made me realise how to take the Maximera drawer out and I made a short video for anyone else who is trying to do this and is struggling:

In case you can’t see the video then what you need to do is find the two little clips that are quite near to the drawer front – they look like this:

There is one clip on either side of the maximera drawer and you need to push them both to get the drawer to release from the rails. You can then reposition the drawers where you want.

How To Get Cheap Furniture

When times are tough it is vital to save as much money as you can when buying goods. One way to do this is to buy second hand rather than buying new. There are many bargains to be had buying second hand furniture in particular and for large pieces people are often happy to get rid of furniture for a low price just so that they can get rid of it, particularly when they are moving house and they have no room for it in their new place.

So, if you are looking for furniture then think about going for a second hand set. For example, you many see the exact model that you like in a shop and then you can pick and choose the pieces from that set from either online ads or from somewhere like eBay. eBay is a great place to pick up furniture second hand as you can set up an alert to advise you when someone puts something up for sale that you might be interested in. You can also set up a geographical limit so that the furniture is within reach of you picking it up.

I have a great example of this myself where I picked up an Ikea Malm wardrobe for £10, a fraction of the new price. I set up an alert in eBay to warn me whenever anyone posted an ad that included the terms ‘Ikea Malm Wardrobe’ within 20km of my address. I had to wait a few weeks for one that sounded perfect for me but I got it as the only bidder for that knock down price. Ok so I had to go and pick it up but that was worth the trip.

you can often pick up complete sets of furniture but you may need to have a little bit of patience to get exactly the pieces that you want. On the flip side of the coin I had to get rid of a piece of bedroom furniture a few years ago and someone actually came from about 200 miles away to pick it up as it was exactly the matching piece that they needed.

So, set up your alert with your  key words in and wait for Ikea to notify you of available pieces. You don’t have to go for the first one that you see as there will likely be more, so have a bit of patience and you are likely to be able to save yourself a lot of money.

Ikea Furniture

For many people Ikea furniture is the default option when furnishing a new house or apartment. I know that I myself have furnished at least 3 places almost wholly with Ikea furniture. So what is it that ikea have got that others fail to replicate?

Well in my opinion, Ikea have got the mix of design and price just right. You can get stylish furniture at sometimes dirt cheap prices. OK, so you may have to put the furniture together yourself (or some stores do offer a service where they will build your furniture for you for a fee or if you spend a certain amount in store) but once you get the idea of how to build one bit of Ikea furniture, you are pretty much an expert in putting any of it together!

The design side of Ikea furniture is really clever – the pieces of furniture that they sell are often very simple in style and design but at the same time modern and fashionable. You can easily furnish a bachelor pad with Ikea furniture but equally you can furnish a family home and both will come out looking great.

The other thing is with Ikea furniture that is is functional. So if you just want a few functional pieces to add to your home then it is a great place to go – and you can easily mix it with your existing furniture.
