Can I Watch TV on my Sky Box Without a Subscription?

So it got to the point where I needed to cancel my Sky subscription as I could no longer afford it and I was wondering if I could still watch TV on my Sky box without a subscription. After all there are a number of free to air channels on there that I don’t need to pay for. But I wasn’t sure if I needed to view the TV using Freesat or Freeview, neither of which I had connected to my TV.  Continue reading Can I Watch TV on my Sky Box Without a Subscription?

How To Get Free Lives on Candy Crush

Well if you are one of the 20 million people currently playing Candy Crush Saga and you maybe get to a level where you get stuck and keep running out of lives then there is one really simple trick to get you 3 times the amount of lives before you actually run out.

This is maybe something you already know but if not it might just help you get through to the next level. Firstly if you are playing Candy Crush on your phone and you run out of lives then go play on your laptop/PC. You will immediately have a full set of lives regardless of whether you have just run them down on another device. Then, once you have run out of lives there, just go to your iPad and get another set of lives there!

OK that is a quick and free fix. If you want more in depth hints and tips and ways to totally race through the levels of Candy Crush then maybe you will be interested in Candy Crush Online

Where is the Undelete Function on Sky?

So there were a lot of adverts going around for Sky showing off the new undelete function that they had, whereby if you (or someone else) deleted a program accidentally (which is easily done as I have found to my cost when backing up from something you are watching, hitting delete straight away, and it deleting something completely different because it had just recoded something else while you were watching your program!) you could recover it.

However, what the adverts did not show, was how do you actually undelete something on your Sky box? In theory it is quite simple but in practice it is much easier to find if you know where you are going (much like anything really!). So, to undelete a program, go to your Planner and you will be taken to the All programs section (the place where all your recorded programs are). Without pressing the down arrow to go to the programs, skip left and you will see the Deleted section. From here you can see the programs that you last deleted. Programs will be kept here until you need space for further recordings so if you do have plenty of space on your box it should be no hassle to go back and retrieve a deleted program.

What is the Harlem Shake?

Well as far as I am concerned, the Harlem Shake is a poor attempt to gain some publicity and views for YouTube videos. It seems to be a poor cousin to Gangnam Style which actually had a song that did not make you want to turn straight to the headache tablets like ‘Harlem Shake’ does, and it looks totally like a publicity stunt for that song (did it actually make it to the charts? I think not…)

So on YouTube people dress us, maybe put a cardboard box on their head and dance. Not really much else to it. They do all dance to the annoying Harlem Shake song and some of them maybe dance where you wouldn’t expect them to. Apart from that, don’t waste 5 minutes of your life googling on YouTube for videos, you will wish that you had not bothered and had search for ‘funny cats’ instead. You can never go wrong with funny cats.

Is Music Magpie Worthwhile?

If you have seen the adverts in the UK for Music Magpie, who buy your old CDs and DVDs (and also video games), then you might wonder if Music Magpie is worthwhile.

The question may well be what are you expecting to get out of it? If you want to clear some space and get rid of what you might consider junk, then you can do this quickly and easily with Music Magpie. However, if you are looking to make the most money as possible from selling old CDs and DVDs then this may not be the best method to achieve this.

If you wonder what Music Magpie is all about (you can check out their website here) then this is what they do- you enter the details of your CD or DVD and they offer to buy it from you at a fixed price. There are a few that Music Magpie will not accept, but the majority are saleable.

So the good thing is that they will buy the majority from you in a job lot, and if you sell more than 50 items then they will send a courier to collect them. Even for less than 50 items you can send them to them by freepost.

The bad thing is that you may not get much from them for your old CDs and DVDs, for example, most CDs are only worth 30p. So you have to ask yourself is it worth selling them for 30p? If you don’t really listen to them and you have a lot to sell then it can be worth it, after all what else will you do with them? If you think you can get more for them then maybe you can take them to a car boot sale where you may sell a few, but this can be time consuming and you may end up not selling many.

So, if you want to just clear them out and get what you can for them, then Music Magpie is a good bet. After all, is anyone going to be using CDs in a few years time or will it be like trying to sell vinyl?
