YouTube Ad Program

The YouTube Ad Program enables users of YouTube who upload their videos, to earn money from ads that show when people view their videos. It can be a good stream of income if you have original videos that are likely to get a lot of views.

There are two ways of getting into the YouTube Ad Program – the first is to get invited by YouTube and the second is to apply for your account to be included. However, don;t hold your breath for too long if you apply as it can and probably will take months for your application to be processed.

The most obvious criteria that YouTube set for becoming part of the program is to have a video that is completely your own content and that attracts a large number of views in a shortish period of time. However, we have heard of people who got invited with just one video of a few thousand views and others who got turned down with a number of videos of tens of thousands of views – so acceptance to the YouTube Ad Program is not in any way guaranteed.

Once accepted to the program, you can select which of your videos you monetise – so if you only have some that are individual to you then you can just select those. As YouTube is part of Google you will need to have a valid Adsense account as that is how the money is earned.

Trends – Planking

Planking is a trend that has taken off really only in the last year or so even though it is said to have been invented more than 10 years ago. Planking is a simple thing – in essence you just go out, lie face down somewhere with your hands at the sides of your body, get someone to take a photograph of you in this position and post the photograph on the internet.

In the height of it’s popularity in early 2011, the craze was to carry out planking in the most strange or even dangerous places. This actually led to some deaths of people taking part in planking including the death of a man in Brisbane after planking on a 7th floor balcony. There are other deaths that have been rumoured to be related to planking but it is difficult to prove if this is the case.

Many cases of planking can be found in video format on YouTube as well as participants posting photos of themselves on facebook and other social networking sites.

No doubt planking is a trend that will fizzle out and other strange stunts will be thought of instead in the quest to be the next social media fad.

Beyonce on YouTube

So recently Beyonce announced that she was pregnant by her husband Jay-Z at the VMA awards. As I did not get to see these awards I tried to check out the announcement on YouTube. However, one annoying thing about youtube is that people often load up their videos with misleading titles and so you don’t really know what you are going to get until you load the YouTube video.

I searched for Beyonce and the VMA awards on YouTube and I must have looked through about 20 videos before giving up and deciding that the announcement of Beyonce’s pregnancy was not on there. Maybe it was but I found it impossible to find. All that I got were people sitting in front of their computer and commenting on the fact that Beyonce had announced her pregnancy. Maybe the proceedings were protected by some sort of copyright but I just couldn’t find  the YouTube video that showed what she said.

I was interested in seeing the recording of the VMAs thenselves as some people I know had not been very complimentary about the way that she announced it and how that might impact other people who were trying to get pregnant but were struggling.

Anyway, I might keep checking YouTube to see if I can find the real Beyonce video but in the meantime if anyone finds it I would be interested to know and would appreciate a link here in the comments, thanks.
